Daniel Lysons 1727-1800

Daniel Lysons (1727-1800) was born in Gloucestershire, and practised for a few years at Gloucester, where he was a physician to the infirmary there. In 1769 he moved to Bath and was elected one of the honorary physicians to the Bath City Infirmary (now the RUH)

Some years later he was elected honorary physician to the General Hospital (now the RNHRD). He published several works on fevers and their treatment. He was comfortably off and lived for some years in the Paragon

He pledged a voluntary contribution of £100 per annum to the defence fund set up to deal with the threat of invasion by France. He died at Bath on 20 March 1800, leaving a considerable fortune
